Now that I’ve come out the flip side of Labour and delivery! I have compiled some of my labour and hospital essentials that I found useful and or enjoyable for this experience. I hope you find my list beneficial. Don’t be afraid to bring in your home comforts this is the most life changing experience, you deserve to make it as pleasant an experience as possible.

Labour

· Tens machine - especially in early pre Labour

· Heat pack for Back ( I had full back Labour so all my contractions were in my back 🥵 )

· In and out of hot shower when labouring at home to distract from pain

· Birthing ball

· Chill out playlist (there’s a nice playlist called sweater weather on Spotify I loved - the acoustic version of dance with somebody will forever remind me of Brody now!)

· Avene Thermal Mist Spray a dream in labour and in hospital after as it’s roasting(I’m still using this as getting night sweats so buy a few bottles )

· Hand held Fan

· Well-being pod & essential oils for relaxation

· Rock shandy / sweets a little sugar rush helped

Hospital/ Post Labour essentials

· Big green pads (you need loads)

· Frida mam disposable pants (I’ve tried a few versions but these are my fave as leastbulky and the boy shorts are comfy

· La Roche Posay Cicaplast balm as I found my skin was really dry

· Lip balm Laneige is my fave

· Peri bottle to help when peeing

· Cotton robe mine is Cotone collection *gift

· Cotton / linen / lightweight nighties (mine were White Company Anthropologie & lnh Edit

· Clossy packing cubes to organise my hospital bag - this made grabbing things much easier especially at night when I was on my own looking for things

· Flip flops for shower

· Breast pads in case your milk arrives early

· Sam McKnight hairline wipes

· Codage Leg Drainage Serum (this is a miracle worker to relieve heavy legs and support drainage)

· If you’re BFing silver cups, compresses & lanolin balm to save your nips

· The disposable formula bottles are so handy for top ups. A lovely midwife did a night feed for me so I could sleep.

· Dark towels

· Diffuser / oils

· Baby sleep pillow spray

· Moon Night Light especially when you’re own your own trying to find things!

· Long charger cable

· Skincare / Pamper bits ( I did my skincare routine every night! So important to do things to feel nice when away from home ) my skincare bag included:

· Ella and Jo Melt The Day Away Cleanser *gift

· Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair *gift

· Skin Formulas Hydra Serum, Sheet Masks & Hydra Bronze to look alive! *gift

· Tatcha Luminous Skin Mist

· Vichy Mineral 89 Eye Serum

· Sisley Gua Sha for drainage .*gift

· Hotel slippers for pottering around room/ward/corridor & so you don’t stub your toe!

· Shampoo / conditioner ( I didn’t think I’d wash my hair in hospital but it was the best pick me up, I’d recommend it!) I used the Kevin Murphy minis so they were easy to pack, use code ITLIST15 for site wide discount. I brought their dry shampoo also

· Folder to keep any medical notes in

· Muslins, water wipes, vests & baby grows galore you don’t need proper baby clothes as it’s so warm and you just need to make it easy for yourself for changes & also if the midwives need to check baby.  We found these baby vests so easy to put on as they’ve Velcro, again especially when I was on my own which can be overwhelming when you’re sore and it’s not easy to manoeuvre yourself. we’ve bought more since as they’re so great.
